Thanks for taking the time to visit the official site of Vancouver Inline Hockey League. We are the largest inline hockey league in Canada with over 600 players across the lower mainland.
Someone most likely directed you here because they are already a part of our great community and have you itching to play (hopefully). But before you lace up the skates, you might have a few questions:
Let us quickly tell you a bit more about VIHL and the sport of inline hockey…
- We are a recreational inline hockey league that plays out of Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam
- Anyone is welcome to join! We are coed and beginner friendly and we have a large range of tiers catering to a variety of skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced. From ‘only-ever-skate-the-seawall-on-the-weekend’ to ‘Junior B’, we have your tier.
- For those wanting to learn to play hockey, inline hockey is a great starting point as it is easier on your wallet and easier on your body with less contact compared to ice hockey.
- Compared to floor/ball hockey, inline hockey is closer in style to ice hockey since you can glide as opposed to running around on foot. The obvious difference compared to ice hockey is that it is played on a smooth floor instead of ice.
- Be a stats machine with inline hockey as there are more scoring chances with 4-on-4 play and no offsides or icings.
- Playing hockey can be a great opportunity to socialize with friends. Time and time again, we see strong friendships form among teammates.
